Attendance

Alde Valley Academy is committed to providing an education of the highest quality for all its students but recognises that this can only be achieved by excellent attendance. Good attendance improves your child’s chance of achieving their full potential. Evidence proves that students with poor attendance are unlikely to succeed academically and are likely to not be in further education, employment or training when they leave school. Historical data proves that students with 95-100% attendance have a very good chance of achieving five 4-9 grades. If their attendance is less than 88% they have less than a 30% chance of achieving five 4-9 grades.

Poor attendance causes critical learning time to be lost and students start to lose confidence in school and become demotivated. Their social skills and opportunities also start to suffer and they start to lose touch with school life and to feel detached from their friends.

Attendance is monitored closely at Alde Valley Academy and we strive to work closely with students and parents to ensure that excellent attendance is maintained. Attendance is recorded as a percentage of how much time your child has attended school. Every session they are absent from school whether it is an illness, a medical appointment or an authorised or unauthorised absence has a detrimental effect on their attendance percentage.

Alde Valley is committed to working with students and families if there are any issues that may affect their attendance at school. We have a fantastic team of staff and we have direct links with many different support services that are there to help with any problems.

If you have any concerns, or if you feel that your child would benefit from any additional support then please contact their learning support manager.
